with DYNMICA Real-Time Constraint Utilisation
Types of Performance Measures
RELATIVE
Example: control performance through standard error/deviation (or similar)
Needs to be compared to previous history or adjacent units (e.g. before/after comparison).
Less useful for benchmarking against other unit operations/sites.
ABSOLUTE
Example: Utilisation (0 to 100%)
Usually involves a technical limit of performance.
Means something when viewed in isolation (with some experience).
Can be used for benchmarking across units as well as before/after comparisons.
Application of Measures
RELATIVE
Before / After Comparisons
Upon the completion of improvement efforts Relative Performance Measures provides the ability to compare the pre and post implementation results.
Monitoring of Past Projects (historical trend)
Upon the completion of improvement efforts, monitoring the performance of the plant is critical to sustaining the value.
ABSOLUTE
IDENTIFICATION OF NEW OPPORTUNITIES
Absolute Performance Measures forms an important pillar to identifying plant performance opportunities and driving continuous improvement.
Benchmarking
Absolute Performance Measures provides the compare process plant performance against each other.

Mineral Processing Plant Specialisation
The Theory of Constraints cannot be applied to Process Plants!

Unlike manufacturing, mineral processing plants do not have consistent feed. The feed disturbance (type, size distribution, moisture) is usually the most significant, resulting in influencing plant capacity and the introduction of disturbances to the plant control schemes.

Theory of Constraints is mostly inapplicable in this domain. DYNMICA has the knowledge of:
+ The interconnections of the plant are more complex than a production line.
+ The nature of the feed type will determine the bottleneck of the plant.
+ The feed type will change frequently and significantly.
+ The bottleneck will move around with similar frequency.

Providing the capability to:
+ Measure current plant capacity utilisation in real-time and average.
+ Assess the proportion of time parts of the plant constraint capacity.

Summary of Features
Handle Trade-offs Easily
Process operating objectives may introduce a change in control strategy. This change in control strategy may switch often within an operating shift. DYNMICA manages these trade-offs in real-time.
Visualisation Platform
DYNMICA provides the ability to view the plant constraint performance in real-time. The capability of the visualisation platform provides the user with the flexibility to configure bespoke dashboards.
User Friendly
An environment allowing rapid diagnostic of plant performance issues and improvement mechanisms.
Overall Plant Utilisation
DYNMICA produces a hierarchical structure allowing for a single plant performance measure. The system also allows to investigate individual plant areas for constraint performance.
Vendor Independent
The implementation of DYNMICA is non-hardware dependent. The system and reporting capability can be implemented on multiple platforms across various vendors.
Support
Support of DYNMICA is critical to the success and understanding of the customer’s implementation. The modification (needed if equipment additions or subtractions are made), maintenance and general training and coaching is included within the DYNMICA subscription.
